I couldn’t resist the opportunity to write my blog on 11.11.11. I still remember my almost ten-year-old self marvelling at how pleasing 7.7.77 looked and how seldom such a date would happen. And now, 34 years on, the magic of this phenomenon hasn’t faded. Today was said to be extra special, with greater opportunities for connecting with the unseen.
My Recoleta Cemetery Arc, angel II feels right for this date, partly because of the symmetry of the stained glass window and partly because I captured a rarely-to-be-repeated moment. I have visited this tomb countless times and never again have the elements converged in this way, the cherub’s head seemingly impaled. There is a powerful sense, too, of our link with higher forces, the reflected angel’s hand just brushing the pale pink outline of the window. It is a comforting touch, a reminder that we are not alone.
To see how the statue and the sepulchre’s stained glass coincided on another day, take a look at my Arc, angel.
I was born in Montreal in 1967, grew up in England and live between London and Buenos Aires. Like many, I came to Buenos Aires to dance tango and fell under the spell of this city where strangers talk to you, tango music seeps on to the streets and the ornate crumbling buildings speak of grander times. I love writing and crafting words – I've worked as a sub-editor for more than 20 years – and taking photographs.
I love it!! mom loves it too – ‘refined and beautiful’
Ah, Tracy, thanks for letting me know you both love it. So pleased.
