The image is grainy, but that was my only option if I wanted to portray the angel as she appeared to me, reflected in a grimy pane of glass. I think it fits her silent movie star looks too. I spent a long time watching her from different angles. Wherever I stood, she seemed to be hiding.
“I am always here,” whispered the angel. “You may not always be able to see me, but I am here.” That’s what I found myself scribbling in my Recoleta Cemetery notebook as I walked away. I think she has to be my Hide-and-seek angel.
I was born in Montreal in 1967, grew up in England and live between London and Buenos Aires. Like many, I came to Buenos Aires to dance tango and fell under the spell of this city where strangers talk to you, tango music seeps on to the streets and the ornate crumbling buildings speak of grander times. I love writing and crafting words – I've worked as a sub-editor for more than 20 years – and taking photographs.
Julie-Anne, that is simply beautiful and has to be my absolute all time favourite photo of yours

I sat smiling at the thought of this angel being offered a role in a silent movie – I love your imagination so much!
As always Julie-Anne that’s a beautiful mixture of thoughts and images. x
I haven’t been paying attention for a while. Sorry …You have added many really inspiring, thought provoking, and attention grabbing images.
This one is just perfect! You caught great light and the composition gives just enough of the setting without overwhelming the subject.
Maybe its time to start looking for a publisher. Your images and script are very effective.
Katherine, I almost didn’t post this photo as I wasn’t sure it was ‘good enough’… But then, I thought, she’s beautiful anyway, so deserves to be shown. And, as is often the case, I had the words ready to share. Thank you. I’m so glad you like her.
Amanda, but I think she was in silent movies! Take a look – http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001273. Thank you for your comment. I’m chuffed you appreciate my creativity.
Jenny, thanks my dear. That is what I enjoy so much about the blog – dreaming up the words to go with each photo. This one came together with ease.
Bob, as always I value your photographer’s eye tremendously, as well as your constant encouragement. Thank you so much for this latest comment, which reinforces my desire to compile these images and stories in a book. Will keep you posted…
