Ever since I fell in love with Recoleta Cemetery I’ve wanted to go to Père Lachaise in Paris and last Sunday afternoon I got my chance: a tantalising hour and a quarter before rushing off to get the Eurostar back to London.

I didn’t get far – just up one avenue and round the corner – doing my usual thing of peering into each tomb, looking right and left then up, in search of reflections. Modest stained glass and lots of trees gave new possibilities. I love how the leaves and sky here dissolve into a watery illusion, the cross floating appropriately upstream on its Journey.
I was born in Montreal in 1967, grew up in England and live between London and Buenos Aires. Like many, I came to Buenos Aires to dance tango and fell under the spell of this city where strangers talk to you, tango music seeps on to the streets and the ornate crumbling buildings speak of grander times. I love writing and crafting words – I've worked as a sub-editor for more than 20 years – and taking photographs.
Dear Julie-Anne,
How super to have had a little time to fit in a quick take at Pere Lachaise; I think we can now refer to you as the most ‘Cosmopolitan Cemetery Girl’ now that you’ve visited this very famous one. What a thrill!
Enjoy Spring in Argentina!
love, Barbara
Dear Barbara, have you been to Père Lachaise? Indeed, I was very excited to make it there. Will be lovely to arrive back to Buenos Aires in the spring. Recoleta Cemetery here I come! Love from Julie-Anne
Wonderful photography. Congratulations. Lucky you for having the Buenos Aires light. Missing that bitterly overhere.
Hello Francis, many thanks for your comment. I’m looking forward to getting back to Buenos Aires in September! Best wishes
