Two crosses, two stained glass faces and two years to the day since I posted my first blog entries. I have always liked marking anniversaries, looking back through old diaries to see what I was doing on this day in a particular year. Maybe it’s a way of seeing how I’ve moved on, or not, and of staying connected to my past, my own unique journey.

Last week, I was given an amazing and unexpected gift by my new photography teacher: homework to look at all my Recoleta Cemetery images and organise them into folders, according to some key words we’d come up with. We’re talking 78 folders, to trawl through in just a few days. Shockingly, there were some photos I barely remember taking, one of which made me gasp out loud it’s so magical. That one will be making its way into my next photography exhibition, which opens in just under two weeks’ time at Mallin here in Buenos Aires.

This one didn’t make the cut, but it’s perfect for the blog’s second anniversary (and my 50th post, as synchronicity would have it). Speaking of twos, I’m giving it the title Double bill because it reminds me of an old cinema or theatre parading its posters outside.
I was born in Montreal in 1967, grew up in England and live between London and Buenos Aires. Like many, I came to Buenos Aires to dance tango and fell under the spell of this city where strangers talk to you, tango music seeps on to the streets and the ornate crumbling buildings speak of grander times. I love writing and crafting words – I've worked as a sub-editor for more than 20 years – and taking photographs.
