The discovery that I can make the people in a tomb window look as though they are up a tree is a new and exciting one.
For many months, I steered clear of the streets radiating from Recoleta Cemetery’s main roundabout (the Cristo Central) because of the dark scratchy pines and araucarias. Their disorderly branches distracted from many a clean reflection if they elbowed their way in. But now I realise that if I really include them – promote them from unwanted extra to supporting role – they have amazing photographic potential. Meet my Jesus in the tree.
I was born in Montreal in 1967, grew up in England and live between London and Buenos Aires. Like many, I came to Buenos Aires to dance tango and fell under the spell of this city where strangers talk to you, tango music seeps on to the streets and the ornate crumbling buildings speak of grander times. I love writing and crafting words – I've worked as a sub-editor for more than 20 years – and taking photographs.
What can I say? Your photographs are inspirational. Unique. Thought provoking. And each has a story that I want to hear. The blog is a beautiful way to show your art, and I know that a fabulous exhibition in Buenos Aires will not be far away… Here’s to creativity and to sharing the stuff we were born to do, with the world.
Jesus in the tree is so cool. Kinda caught up in those branches but getting a gentle push out there into the wide blue sky… at least that what this photo makes me think about today. The angels who give us the kind shoves that we need to move us along!
I salute you, and know that you are going far!

Thank you with all my heart – for your constant encouragement and for being the angel who gave me the shove that I badly needed to get me back on to a creative path. You inspire me greatly.
There is so much movement in this, I feel a little dizzy looking into it. Like jesus is on a swing and they’re pushing him.
I see rest, you see movement! All those prickly branches do look quite busy, though. And now you mention it, the figure on the right does appear to be pushing a swing…
Yes Jesus up a tree is most exciting, I am inspired
I was very pleased when I found this reflection. Indeed, not something you see every day!
