I have never been to the Holy Land, but this is how I envisage it would be, with exotic skyscraping trees, magical light and an ancient, mysterious pulse. The portentous cross also helps point my imagination in a biblical direction. I thought it an appropriate shot to post, with Christmas still fresh upon us.
The whole of this Recoleta Cemetery scene, which begged the title Holy Land, is a reflection, captured in the simple door of a grandiose tomb, the potent afternoon sunlight blasting the image into dusk. With the year 2010 in its final hours, twilight seemed rather fitting too.
I was born in Montreal in 1967, grew up in England and live in Buenos Aires. I came, like many, to dance tango and fell in love with this city where strangers talk to you, tango music seeps on to the streets and the ornate crumbling buildings speak of grander times. I’m a writer, sub-editor and photographer.
Very artistic image. Love the silhouettes and all the grey tones.
Thanks Bob. Another of my experimental shots, along the lines of my Cherub UFO and your Albuquerque cable car.
And a marvel with words as well!
Thank you, dear Barbara. That’s an endorsement, coming from a fellow wordsmith.
Aah, this may be my new favourite! How gorgeous, J-A! Besos H
Thanks, Helen. It’s interesting to get feedback on my more experimental (sometimes serendipitous) shots. Besos to you too
